Today, we are happy to report that clips from Clipmarks and Amplify have been migrated to Clipboard. If you had previously requested migration of your clips, they will now appear in your Clipboard account under Home and tagged as #clipmarks or #amplify. All imported clips were assumed private and have, therefore, not been published.

The clip above is one of the very first Amplify clips converted and re-published by its owner, and it seemed nicely suited to commemorate the good news.

If you did not request migration of your clips, you can still request it for Clipmarks here and for Amplify here until 5/31/2012. Please note that after 5/31/2012 we will be deleting the user databases of both Clipmarks and Amplify, so this is your last chance.

To give you some insight, after extending Clipboard invitations to all former Clipmarks and Amplify users, thousands of people requested that their older clips be preserved. Under the hood, Clipmarks and Amplify were very different from how Clipboard was built, so there were numerous little details that we had to work through before the clips could be converted successfully. The migration took longer than we would have liked but we are pleased with the results and we think that you will be too.

In total, we imported hundreds of thousands of clips and we estimate that 97% were converted as accurately as possible. When a clip could not be accurately converted, it was typically due to a security risk with the original clip (e.g., inline JavaScript that could not be safely executed). If any of your imported clips look a bit off, you may still be able to access the original site from the clip and reclip it more successfully with our clipper.

A smaller number of clips have missing images because the original source no longer exists. In these cases, there is really nothing more that we could do. But when images for a clip could be retrieved, we made certain to archive the images so that they would never be lost again.

We hope that you are happy with the results, and we thank you for your patience and trust.
